In this event we unite the worlds of intuitive creativity from the set with clear articulation of classic and modern styles from the classroom and behind the chair. “Educated intuition.”

Day 1: Classic / Foundational / Gateway Cutting Techniques -- Round Brush Blow Dry Set + Pinning Styling Techniques. Photo shoot.

Day 2: Modern Takes on Classic Shapes (Cutting) -- Quick / Natural Styling Techniques. Photo shoot.

Amy Farid moved to NYC to join Bumble & bumble in 2000 after a childhood of creating her own photo shoots and publishing work in zines in Oklahoma in the 90s.  She knew she was going to be a session hairdresser at a company perhaps specializing in razor cutting, behind the chair work, education, and fashion week. So she worked hard to get through assistant programs supporting Coco Santiago, Nicholas Roach, Coby Alcantar, and Howard and Raymond McLaren.

Soon she caught the eye of Bb founder Michael Gordon and moved onto supporting some of the most prominent and legendary session hairstylists in the world, like Ward (Stegerhoek), Laurent Philippon, Jimmy Paul, and then countless others along the way like Paul Hanlon.

Corinna Hernandez joined Bumble & bumble in 2004 after years of Sassoon apprenticeship and cutting. She was handpicked by Michael Gordon to take a leadership role around education and was a standout at fashion week and behind the chair. She did have the same exposure to assist legendary stylists at Fashion Week, but Corinna gravitated towards cutting and education, ultimately leading the Bb education motion across the western US, then leading the razor cutting and styling education program at Edo Salon from 2012-2017. Pony Education was founded in 2014.

So where Corinna learned the curriculum inside and out and could articulate any method and describe all-of-the-moves, Amy was spending days and nights on set in the editorial and runway world.

In this event we unite the worlds of intuitive creativity from the set with clear articulation of classic and modern styles from the classroom and behind the chair. “Educated intuition.”

Day 1: Classic / Foundational / Gateway techniques

On day 1, our educators will focus on classic, foundational, shoulder-length or longer cuts. To finish, they will demonstrate a round brush blow dry + pinning techniques. This is a technique that they had "learned" prior to working with styling legends, but what you will learn at THIS class is the distillation and amalgamation of decades of working with Ward, Philippon, Paul, and an abundance of legendary stylists.

Fun fact: Amy requires all of her assistants to send a video of how the do a round brush blow dry set.

Day 2: Modern Takes on Classic Shapes / Quick Styling

On day 2, our educators will focus on shorter cuts and quick styling. You'll dig into enhancing natural texture using products, your hands, maybe even a blowdryer, but it will come across more organically, less fussy, less-done, easier, and easy for your clients to recreate at home.
