Join NYC celebrity and editorial stylist, bread maker, and "best in class" gender-fluid short cuts expert (by Vogue) Jordan M with Pony Founder Corinna Hernandez on a deep dive into short haircuts. They will tackle technique, shapes, and share 100 references that you need to know so you have a full arsenal when your client sits in your chair.

References
During this class we will discuss references at length. References can be iconic, in film, in magazines, or even from your BART commute. We will talk about taking mental snapshots of all lewks, then asking “how would I do that?” and ultimately bring these references with you to each service your provide behind the chair.

Pixie
Watch your educators cut an elevated, soft, approachable pixie with a focus on parting. Though you will need a strong technique to fall back on, Jordan’s approach is more about shape— almost sculpting. He will say things like “don’t get stuck on technicality, just use your mirror.” Everyone should start with good technique but you also need an opportunity to play. We will get to play on our live models during the hands-on portion.

5-Minute, No-Section Bob w/ Quick Styling
“Once you can cut a straight line on a round head you can really start playing.”

Jordan M is an SF-born, New York-based hair stylist who got his start as a barber at Rudy’s barbershop when he was 16 which led him to New York as a first assistant to Jimmy Paul and he is veteran of Bumble, where he worked for over a decade. Magazine, advertising and celebrity clients come to Jordan for high-gloss editorial looks and innovative beauty, always with an eye for originality.

He is adept with all hair types but is particularly sought after for his gender fluid short chops, which have been cited as best in class by Vogue and Byrdie, among others. He has always maintained a loyal salon following and enjoys cutting and styling hair for friends and longtime clients.

Jordan will be doing some of his favorite short hair cuts from his career on set and behind the chair using unconventional razor and scissor techniques. “ I really want to do a class. Thats  a lot less rigid and a lot more time talking about inspirations, shape and ultimately have it be more about sculpting a haircut,”said Jordan.
